Street Style Trends that are taking over this Summer

For those of us who live in Reykjavik we haven´t noticed much of a summer or even spring just yet. I am however sure that our time will come and hopefully soon as I am pretty tired of the rain and grey skies. Looking into my not too distant fashion future, I decided to give you guys some inspiration and look into what I am planning on wearing this summer. Here are my inpso picks 🙂     I hope you enjoyed this post and I will be posting a Summer Beeuty post soon 🙂 Dont forget to follow us on Instagram : reykjavikfashion Love xxx

Hoodie Fever - our top picks of Icelandic Hoodies

Hoodie Fever – our top picks of Icelandic Hoodies

The hoodie has been around for ages – I was a hoodie fanatic when I was a teenager and last year the hoodie made a strong re-entrance and will still be going on strong this year. Everyone and anyone can wear the hoodie – Mark Zuckerberg wears the hoodie , Gandalf wore some sort of a hoodie version in Lord of the Rings and now all the blog stars are wearing them too. This ghetto like fashion trend has so many perks to it, you can wear the hoodie with heels if you are going out on a Friday night or tone it down with sneakers for everyday wear. I love how the hoodie trend seems to fit really well with the Icelandic weather- perfect to keep us warm and snug ( its summer I know , but the heat wave that is raging on in Europe has not reached us yet ). I wanted to write this blog post about Icelandic hoodie designs, there are so many Icelandic brands that are doing their own hoodies, from an independent artists producing their own hoodies, to a hostel all the way back to a clothing brand. I wanted to show you some of the newest hoodies that I have come across and how to wear this stylish yet comfortable trend. 66North: was  founded in 1926 so it is root grown Icelandic company. 66 North specializes in making quality clothing and basically all you can ever need to face every kind of weather -that´s especially good if you live in Iceland. I have a lot of stuff from 66 North and believe me when I say that everything I own from there, lasts for absolutely EVER. This hoodie was seen everywhere at Secret Solstice this summer and we love it too. Sylvia…

Secret Solstice Day #3+4

Secret Solstice Day #3+4

Hey y’all! Sorry for the late update—post-Secret-Solstice-flu is definitely a real thing. I’ve been sleeping more than I thought was humanly possible. This is going to be a short post as I had a little problem with my street style photos from Day 3 and Day 4. The day before Secret Solstice, I bought the new iPhone 6, which if you don’t know, has a feature called “Live Photos”. I put my new sim card in on the morning of Day 3 and got my new number—yahoo! Anyway, live photos are different from normal photos; they are essentially GIFs. The iPhone 6 also sets this as the default option. Why?! Who knows. Anyway, all the photos I took from that day were Live Photos, and there is no way to turn Live Photos into Normal Photos on your computer, so all my style photography from that day is completely useless. This is really upsetting but hey—I’m new to this and we live, we learn. I’ll try to give you guys a little picture of the scene though. Day #3: The weather on Day #3 was awful. It was cold and rainy and therefore everyone was bundled up in their sweaters and raincoats, looking pretty miserable. I don’t own a raincoat so I wore my Schott leather jacket, which I’ve had for years and is perfectly aged. Underneath, I wore the Guess-A$AP Rocky collection crop top and high-waisted black flared pants from Topshop. I finished it off with some gold jewelry and Adidas Sam Smith sneakers. It was a good outfit but my leather jacket did not protect me from the rain or cold and I desperately wished for some real protection and warmth. I spent the next morning scoping out potential anoraks and lopapeysa. Looking for a new raincoat? I’m obsessed with the ones…

Secret Solstice Fashion Day #1

Secret Solstice Fashion Day #1

I was fortunate enough to spend yesterday at the Secret Solstice festival, where I saw old friends, made new friends, and enjoyed what little sun their was all while watching acts ranging from Sister Sledge to Gísli Pálmi. My favourite act of the day was without a doubt Shades of Reykjavík. Not only do I love their music (check out my favourite song here), but they’ve seriously got the best look of anyone at the show. Seriously, the boys have some nu-metal late 1990s style that is completely inimitable. Maybe I’ll do a post on them soon. Hmm… In terms of festival-wear, athleisure was definitely the way to go. No matter where I walked, it seemed like everyone had at least one piece from brands like Stussy, Adidas, or Nike. While at festivals like Coachella or Bonnaroo, you’ll see girls walking around in high heels, here comfort was key, and you rarely saw anyone not wearing sneakers or Timbs. Bits of tasteful facepaint and face-jewels were also pretty popular, along with dark lipstick and hair buns. I have no idea how these Reykjavík girls manage to keep their makeup looking so perfect, but if anyone has any advice, defintiely leave a comment! Onto the fashion, though. My Look I opted to go with a short dress and sneaker wedges. It ended up being stylish and comfortable but I’m going to wear a few more layers today because it definitely got cold by 4 am! Show y’all a pic tomorrow. Dress – Zara. Shoes – Nike. Hoodie – Lulu Lemon. Leather Jacket – Schott NYC. Hat – Chicago Bulls. Bag – Louis Vuitton. My Favourite Looks From The Festival I’m obsessed with this girls high-waisted lace pants! I’m pretty sure they are from Zara, but I didn’t get a chance to ask. Majorly flattering though! These girls…
