I am still recuperating after four days of partying at Secret Solstice. With a wide range of artists like Bonnie Tyler, Slayer, Stormzy and Clean Bandit performing, you could easily find the type of music to fit every mood. We met some amazing people on our first day there from Holland, Argentina and Ireland who quickly became our festival buddies. Here are some pictures from the festival that caught the mood perfectly. Please check out our Instagram for street style pictures: reykjavikfashion. Love,
Secret Solstice is coming up in a little over a week and they intend to run entirely on geothermal energy sources and enacting on a total plastic straw ban on site – how amazing. I have already started preparing my outfits with some help from Lindex and 66North and I am going to show you what I will be wearing. This is all for now, only 1 DAY TO GO !! I am so excited. Don´t forget to follow us on Instagram: reykjavikfashion. Love, This post is in cooperation with Secret Solstice, 66 North and Lindex.
Anderson Pack, Big Sean and Rick Ross were so great last night, as I listened to their music I fell straight in my element and completely forgot how tired I was. Unfortunatly our camera got a little bit wet on saturday so the pictures from the last day are a little bit dark but here you go.
We got to Secret Solstice just in time to hear Rottweiler scream “if you have chlamydia raise your hands ?!?” over the crowd as they started playing the next song “negla”. The crowd was super energetic and Rottweiler managed to keep the dynamic atmosphere to the max. I was eager to see Prodigy and oh boy they didn’t disappoint, I was actually quite surprised to find out that I recognized a lot more songs than I thought a would. The rain was pouring down but people didnt seem to mind and let the music take over , creating mosh pits everywhere in front of the stage. As usual we took some shots of all the happy people and the great atmosphere at Solstice.
Photos by : Mathilde Schmidt & Soren Stubkjær The forecast said that it would rain all day yesterday but at the middle of The Roots Manuva set, the sun broke out and some of my friends who know how quickly the weather can change here in Iceland, were smart enough to bring their sunnies. Although the forecast for today says it is to rain all day, I will defiantly bring my sunnies just in case. Foo Fighters were as amazing as expected and at one point Dave Grohl brought out his daughter to play the drums and she defiantly wowed the crowd. Yesterday had a lot of cool looking festival guests and we managed to take some shots of some happy festival guests. Happy independence day everybody !!
"Out of a hundred songs to choose from, which one should I end with?" Chaka Khan told the audience while the beat for "Ain´t Nobody" started in the background. The crowd went wild!! Secret Solstice started with a bang last night and the festival guests didn't let the dark clouds bother them one bit. The festival fashion was clearly ´90s inspired, mixed with a dash of glitter and colors. We snapped a few pics of the festival guests and the atmosphere.
Secret Solstice festival opens today, I have been listening to Chaka Chan on repeat these past days as well as a few other artists that I am really excited to see. Here are a few of my favorite artists. And a personal favorite
Secret Solstice is upon us and some of you might be wondering what to wear. I am constantly pushing the refresh button on the weather forecast website but unfortunately the rain cloud for both Friday and Saturday are there to stay. But don´t fret – this just gives us more of a Glastonbury feeling. Thankfully there are ways to dress up , wear a colorful raincoat , boots and still look cool. The key items in my opinion are cool boots and preferably a bright yellow or army green raincoat, hat, cap or a funky bandana, a fanny pack or a cute little bag. Don´t be afraid to put on some creative festival makeup and remember a good lipstick can go a long way. I found a few items at local stores around Reykjavik to get you all prepped and ready to go!! Bandana : Geysir – 5.800 kr Canon Camera: Costco – Prices may vary Lipstick: Mac Crossover Bag: Zara – 5.995 kr Raincoat: 66 North– 19.000 kr Foo Fighters Hoodie: Spúútnik – selection and prices may vary Sunglasses: Húrra Reykjavík – 7.990 kr Chanel perfume travel kit: Hagkaup – 18.299 kr Hunters Rain-boots: Geysir – 23.800 kr And I pinterested some festival pictures for you to draw inspiration from !!! I pinterested some ideas for you to use as inspiration.
Hey y’all! Sorry for the late update—post-Secret-Solstice-flu is definitely a real thing. I’ve been sleeping more than I thought was humanly possible. This is going to be a short post as I had a little problem with my street style photos from Day 3 and Day 4. The day before Secret Solstice, I bought the new iPhone 6, which if you don’t know, has a feature called “Live Photos”. I put my new sim card in on the morning of Day 3 and got my new number—yahoo! Anyway, live photos are different from normal photos; they are essentially GIFs. The iPhone 6 also sets this as the default option. Why?! Who knows. Anyway, all the photos I took from that day were Live Photos, and there is no way to turn Live Photos into Normal Photos on your computer, so all my style photography from that day is completely useless. This is really upsetting but hey—I’m new to this and we live, we learn. I’ll try to give you guys a little picture of the scene though. Day #3: The weather on Day #3 was awful. It was cold and rainy and therefore everyone was bundled up in their sweaters and raincoats, looking pretty miserable. I don’t own a raincoat so I wore my Schott leather jacket, which I’ve had for years and is perfectly aged. Underneath, I wore the Guess-A$AP Rocky collection crop top and high-waisted black flared pants from Topshop. I finished it off with some gold jewelry and Adidas Sam Smith sneakers. It was a good outfit but my leather jacket did not protect me from the rain or cold and I desperately wished for some real protection and warmth. I spent the next morning scoping out potential anoraks and lopapeysa. Looking for a new raincoat? I’m obsessed with the ones…
Though the forecast said rain yesterday, the weather ended up being perfect on the second day of the Secret Solstice festival. We were blessed with sun and fun and I had a blast. While watching acts like Lady Leshurr and Glacier Mafia, I danced up a storm, made even more new friends, and took a lot of street style photos for you guys! Yay! For this post, I tried to get some photos of “weirder” festival looks. We got our fill of cool Reykjavík style yesterday so today, I tried to look around for people who were a little more alternative. Thankfully, Solstice didn’t disappoint. From ravers to metalheads, it feels like every group is represented at the festival. I just love doing style snaps—you never know what you are going to find! My Look I went for more athleisure today—what can I say? I’m super predictable. I brought two jackets, a furry one and a leather one, but the weather was so nice that I ended up just wearing my Adidas. What am I supposed to do tomorrow? I’ll keep you posted. Dress – Bloomingdale’s. Jacket – Adidas. Bralette – Calvin Klein. Shoes – Nike. Bag – Louis Vuitton. Glasses – Prada. Festival Fashion From Today You know how sometimes you see people wear something and you think, I would never wear that but they rock it so hard. That’s how I felt when I saw these guys. A+ festival fashion! If you can’t tell from the photo—this girl is wearing a sloth sweatshirt! Super cute and comfy. When I walked up to this man to ask for a photo, his whole group started laughing. Apparently another person had just left them after asking for a picture with him. C’mon though, with a beard like that, who could resist? Staff photo! This girl was…
