Holiday Gift Guide

Holiday Gift Guide

Some people can be quite tricky when it comes to giving them presents. They either seem to buy the thing they need almost instantly or dont have any clue what they want.  I often end up giving them something generic and boring. This year I decided to do some detective work and try to find something within a wide price range and would be creative and fun to give. The jacket from 66 north has been on my wishlist since last year – actually I first saw it in red and black but I don´t think they make it in that color anymore. Makeup is always a classy gift and perfect for  a friend. I have been using the lip balm from the blue lagoon forever and there is no turning back I also carry the face mist from collagenvorur.is in my bag at all time – a product that I can highly recommend. The Becca primer and foundation is on my wishlist as well as the sunflower clock from Vitra – one can always dream. Manuka Doctor Eye Oil, Available at Deisymakeup. Blue Lagoon Scented Lava, Available at Blue Lagoon. 66 North Tindur Puffered Jacket, Available at 66North. Nikki Williams Key Ring, Available at Mai. Rifle Paper Co. Diary, Available at Petit.is. Frederik Bagger Glasses, Available at Snúran. Vitra Sunflower Clock, Available at penninn. Aurum Earrings, Available at Aurum.  Becca Back Light Priming Filter, Available at Hagkaup. Bobbi Brown Satin & Caviar Shadow & Long-Wear gel eyeliner pallette, Available at Hagkaup. Atelo Face Mist, Available at collagenvorur.is. Blue Lagoon Lip Balm, Available at Blue Lagoon.  RIVSALT, Available at rvkdesign.is.   Hope this list gives you some inspiration on what to give your loved ones. Have a lovely day 🙂

All I want for christmas !!

All I want for christmas !!

I have been trying to refrain from listening to Christmas songs or decorating my flat too early. I recently joined a choir and for the past weeks we have been singing Christmas songs – preparing for our concert in December. Although I have been able to put of the Christmas spirit until the 1 of December – I now cant help it. I prepared a little wishlist of items that I want for Christmas. This carpet from Mundu Mig would fit beautifully in my kitchen. Crazy cool shoes from Maia. Potential Christmas outfit available at Vila. This Estee Lauder double stick foundation has been on my wishlist for a long time, I might have to treat myself to it as an early Christmas gift from me to me. You can buy it at most drugstores. Being a fan of everything Stina Goye, this coat would be fantastic to wear during the festivities – available at Geysir. Nice lingerie is a must for Christmas, this set is available at Yeoman. Everything in the Skinboss product line is all Organic and absolutely amazing. I have been so lucky to try out the products and I can 100 % recommend it to anyone. It is a great gift for your mom, dad or a friend. Available at most drugstores. Urð is an old Icelandic word meaning earth or ground. I got given this soap as a gift the other day and it smells fantastic ( without it being overwhelming ) and looks pretty cool. The soap is made from sea salt which gently exfoliates the skin and natural oils which leave the skin feeling soft and nourished. Available at URÐ. I hope you are all feeling happy and like some of us, getting into the Christmas mood. Don´t forget to follow us on instagram: reykjavikfashion…

Maintaining Silver Gray Hair !

Maintaining Silver Gray Hair !

I have been sporting different hair colors for the past year. It all started by me going from going completely pink to gray to pink back to being gray again. I find it extremely important to use good hair products especially when you mess with your hair so much. I often get compliments on my hair – probably because people like the look but might be too scared to try it out.  I was a bit skeptical at first and I felt it might be too hard to maintain but after trying it out I can promise you that it is much easier than it seems. All you need are the rights products to suit your hair type and color and you are good to go.  I decided to list my favorite products that I use.                                                       Most of these products are available at sapan.is   Happy weekend everyone – and make sure to follow us on Instagram @reykjavikfashion

Icelandic power women featured in vouge!!

Icelandic power women featured in vouge!!

During my morning fashion surf across the world wide web I came across an article on vouge.com A fasinating read about strong Icelandic women and their favourite places in Iceland. The first one that caught my eye was Glowie a former Reykjavik Fashion and Design cover girl. Here is what she had to say:   Glowie, musician, Her spot: The beach close to Viðey harbor, where she often comes with her boyfriend (pictured). “One of our first dates we came here. It’s a special place for us and very romantic. I live near here as well.” There are also frequent daily ferries to Viðey island, which feels like going back in time. Music notes: “The music industry is really different here in Iceland. It’s kind of a mixture of straight pop and more left-side indie music. I grew up around a family who was all in music and I listened to everything from gospel choirs to Outkast and Craig David. That made me who I am—my style and my sound. It’s a mixture of hip-hop, R&B, and Icelandic influences.” Look: “I’ve always been unafraid to be different. I look for things that no one else here is wearing. I shop a lot of vintage stores. I only wear retro Buffalo platform shoes now. I love the ’90s—that’s my favorite style decade. When I was younger, people would say I was a mixture of Rihanna and Beyoncé. But I don’t want to be the next anybody. I want to be the first Glowie.” My Reykjavik: “The fresh air, the clean water, the language. When I’m in London talking to people in English all day, I miss just speaking Icelandic. The architecture is really different here, too. You definitely want to explore all the new buildings downtown by the water and also the…

Happy Reykjavik Gay Pride 2017

Happy Reykjavik Gay Pride 2017

One of my favorite events of the year in Gay Pride. I love the festivities, color and overall how everyone is so happy to come together and celebrate love and respect for each other. Reykjavik Pride brings thousands of people together and it lasts for little under a week. The parade starts today at 2PM from Hverfisgata by Ingólfsstræti to Hljómskálagarður Park. See you there 🙂

Instagram Crush

This weekend was a relaxing one – spent mostly on the sofa with the computer on my lap – browsing the world wide web. I came across an Instagram account: Micha Gianneli. She is so stunning and you can tell that she is really into posting well produced photos. She is one of the biggest influencers in Australia and her Instagram account is visually gorgeous, you can see she puts a lot of thought into the overall look. I will let the pictures speak for themselves 🙂 Remember to follow us on Instagram: reykjavikfashion Happy chappy Monday 🙂

This bag has been on the top of my wish-list for quite some time. Granted its from last year and there are newer bags out there but I love how elegant it is and can be dressed up and down. Skincare: Clinique Redness Solutions Review

Skincare: Clinique Redness Solutions Review

I have told you before about my very sensitive skin. I cannot use just any product, my skin brakes out in hives and turns all red whenever I use products that don´t suit my skin type.  Recently I have also noticed that I have developed rosacea , basically red patches on my face… GREAT!!! Well a friend told me about the Clinique Redness Solutions line and I was very keen to try it out. I have been using the products for little over a week now and I can already see a HUGE difference. I am going to take you through the products that I have been using. Every evening I start by cleansing my face with the Soothing Cleanser. Actually I had to get used to the routine as I admit I can get quite lazy when it comes taking my makeup off in the evening … I know I know , not a good thing especially when it comes to sensitive skin. This cleanser is really smooth and gentle on the skin, I don´t wear waterproof mascara so this cleanser removes all my makeup with ease,  but if you do, you might need to use a special eye-makeup remover. Next I apply the moisturizer. My skin absolutely loves this moisturizer, it drinks in all the moisture and is something that I highly recommend both for summer and winter, it doesn’t leave my skin greasy at all. I apply it both evening and morning.  If I have time, I like to let the moisturizer dry into the skin just a little, before I apply my primer. The primer has a green tint to it set out to correct the color of the skin and smooth it all out, giving it a nice finish. I must admit, I had a…

Beauty: Ready for Happy Hour tonight? All you need are two products !!

Beauty: Ready for Happy Hour tonight? All you need are two products !!

Its almost the weekend and I wanted to share two products with you that I have been using for a while now.  My make up motto these days is “less is more” and I have been using the Clinique Blend It Yourself drops for my daily makeup routine. This is how it works: You choose a moisturizer that works for you ( matte or with a shine finish ) and blend it with only 2-3 drops of the Blend it yourself drops. Trust me that´s all you need, the more drops the fuller coverage you get. Make sure to blend it well ( I use the back of my hand ) and apply.   The drops come in a small container so its pretty handy to keep in your bag and re-apply if you are going out after work for Happy Hour. Another product that I have been using ever since it came out , is the Lancome Matte Shaker. I got the color Brick me Cherry and a lip liner to match. It is perfect for a lady on the go, you can decide how rich you want to color to be by applying the gloss 2-3 times. And it lasts FOREVER !! So I recommend if you are going somewhere for Happy Hour straight after work, to apply the drops, smack on the lippy and a good mascara  and be gorgeous !! Make sure to follow us on Instagram: reykjavikfashion   Happy Weekend Everybody 🙂 Pssst… there are TAX FREE days at Hagkaup until the 10th of july!!! I got these products as a gift.
