The Slut Walk will be held for the seventh time tomorrow with over a thousand people participating in solidarity for victims of sexual assault. The slut walk is an international movement where the main goal is to call for an end of rape culture, victim blaming and slut shaming. Some people dress “slutty” for this walk , others wear statement t-shirts. The point is that you should be able to dress however you want – whenever you want!! Nobody wants to be raped, no one is asking for it – however you choose to dress is not an invitation to be assaulted in any way. I urge for everyone to take part in this important movement support this cause and stand by the victims by showing zero tolerance towards slut shaming and sexual abuse. The Slut Walk starts at 14.00 pm going from Hallgrímskirkja down to Skólavörðustígur towards Austurvöllur. I hope to see you there marching in your sluttiest outfit ( or whatever you fancy wearing ) !! Follow us on Instagram: Reykjavikfashion #Druslugangan #hofumhatt
My parents invited me for lunch the other day at The Marshall House. The building at Grandi hosts the art gallery Kling & Bang , The Modern art museum, a restaurant and of course the fantastic workshop and exhibition space with works by Ólafur Elíasson. I took a few photos, I will let the pictures speak for themselves. I will be doing a post about the roadtrip I took to the Westfjords soon so stay tuned !! Follow us on Instagram: Reykjavikfashion
I am going on a four day camping trip ending with a country wedding in the Westfjords. I have been looking forward to it all summer and that is partly because I haven’t really had the chance to explore the Westfjords and partly because this will be my first country wedding. I have been thinking about what to pack for the trip all week, unfortunately the Icelandic weather isn’t that predictable so you have to be prepared for any weather. I thought I would share with you a few of the things that I am bringing with me on the trip. Inflatable airbed: Sekkur.is Backpack: Hrím Sunnies: Lindex Hat: Lindex Dress: Geysir Water Bottle: Hrím Poncho: Icewear Rainboots: Geysir I will keep you in the loop on Instagram: Reykjavikfashion so keep an eye out. I will write a post about the trip when we get back next week 🙂 Have a good one lovelies !!
This weekend was a relaxing one – spent mostly on the sofa with the computer on my lap – browsing the world wide web. I came across an Instagram account: Micha Gianneli. She is so stunning and you can tell that she is really into posting well produced photos. She is one of the biggest influencers in Australia and her Instagram account is visually gorgeous, you can see she puts a lot of thought into the overall look. I will let the pictures speak for themselves 🙂 Remember to follow us on Instagram: reykjavikfashion Happy chappy Monday 🙂
I decided to push myself a little bit, I wanted to try and challenge myself by doing new things everyday. So I set myself a seven-day-challenge. Nothing radical but I will definitely take somethings with me and try to create some healthy habits. MONDAY I wanted to start the week out by doing a little exercise, and believe me I am way way out of shape. A friend of mine was up for being my running partner and we decided to run 3 km around the Laugardalur area. She was so patient with my as I had to stop and walk A LOT during our workout. Doing some kind of an exercise is good for the brain, it stimulates you and gives you energy it also boosts your self-confidence. You don´t have to go running or do anything major, just by taking the steps instead of the elevator each day , can do wonders. TUESDAY Being creative can sometimes be hard and believe me I know, so Tuesday was all about creating something new. I had been wanting to learn how to use a sewing machine and I decided to go for it. It is OK to start out small, I had a pair of leggings that I wanted to fix, hole in the crouch is not a good look. Next time I will challenge myself to a bigger project. WEDNESDAY Weather you are a creative writer, musician , have acting skills or none of the above, it can be good to challenge yourself a bit in the creative area. Some people like to write down their thoughts , for me , my creative outlet is my piano. I can sometimes forget all about the time when I start playing. When I play I feel like I can let…
I had a good friend from Denmark visit me early this summer. We had a blast together, went to Secret Solstice music festival , reminisced and laughed A LOT !! I have been really lucky in life, had the chance to live abroad both in Denmark and the UK for the most part of my teens and early twenties. I met many people, some of them are still my friends today others I keep in my memory bank- we just somehow drifted away. Friends are like snowflakes – if you pee on them they disappear. TRUE , yes it is true 🙂 A friendship is something that needs nourishment, it is a two way street. I have never had to “brake up” with a friend, some people come into your life when you need them and then they go away just as quickly as they appeared. Friendships can also be poisonous , drag you down. You might not even notice it at times – you might feel bad about yourself and you either draw people towards you who are in the same way or you might drawn to people who also are having a bad moment. I think we all go through bad times and good – thats only normal. The hard bit is to recognize what steps to take when you do. I was having a hard time doing Reykjavik Fashion and Design, I didn’t feel supported and almost felt like it was a waste of time. My danish friend helped me, gave me a good pep talk, a pad on the back when I needed it – but was also the one who said ” Björg, get back on the horse – move forward – I believe in you. ” It gave me energy, strengthened me and gave…
This bag has been on the top of my wish-list for quite some time. Granted its from last year and there are newer bags out there but I love how elegant it is and can be dressed up and down. I would probably wear it with a chain – and like it in the color blue 🙂 . I found some street style pictures and I am just going to let them do all the talking. Do you reckon you can get this bag here in Iceland? Follow us on Instagram: reykjavikfashion Have a lovely day 🙂
I recently got sent the images for Sostrene Grenes fall line. I really like a lot of the things that the brand comes out with but everything I want is usually sold out by the time that I move myself into gear. This time around I am going to try and get there in time. I really love the flower pots so fingers crossed !!! Keep your eyes out for this line its supposed to be in stores from the 7th of September, so we have to wait a little 🙂 Make sure to follow us on Instagram: reykjavikfashion This post is not sponsored!
I have told you before about my very sensitive skin. I cannot use just any product, my skin brakes out in hives and turns all red whenever I use products that don´t suit my skin type. Recently I have also noticed that I have developed rosacea , basically red patches on my face… GREAT!!! Well a friend told me about the Clinique Redness Solutions line and I was very keen to try it out. I have been using the products for little over a week now and I can already see a HUGE difference. I am going to take you through the products that I have been using. Every evening I start by cleansing my face with the Soothing Cleanser. Actually I had to get used to the routine as I admit I can get quite lazy when it comes taking my makeup off in the evening … I know I know , not a good thing especially when it comes to sensitive skin. This cleanser is really smooth and gentle on the skin, I don´t wear waterproof mascara so this cleanser removes all my makeup with ease, but if you do, you might need to use a special eye-makeup remover. Next I apply the moisturizer. My skin absolutely loves this moisturizer, it drinks in all the moisture and is something that I highly recommend both for summer and winter, it doesn’t leave my skin greasy at all. I apply it both evening and morning. If I have time, I like to let the moisturizer dry into the skin just a little, before I apply my primer. The primer has a green tint to it set out to correct the color of the skin and smooth it all out, giving it a nice finish. I must admit, I had a…
Its almost the weekend and I wanted to share two products with you that I have been using for a while now. My make up motto these days is “less is more” and I have been using the Clinique Blend It Yourself drops for my daily makeup routine. This is how it works: You choose a moisturizer that works for you ( matte or with a shine finish ) and blend it with only 2-3 drops of the Blend it yourself drops. Trust me that´s all you need, the more drops the fuller coverage you get. Make sure to blend it well ( I use the back of my hand ) and apply. The drops come in a small container so its pretty handy to keep in your bag and re-apply if you are going out after work for Happy Hour. Another product that I have been using ever since it came out , is the Lancome Matte Shaker. I got the color Brick me Cherry and a lip liner to match. It is perfect for a lady on the go, you can decide how rich you want to color to be by applying the gloss 2-3 times. And it lasts FOREVER !! So I recommend if you are going somewhere for Happy Hour straight after work, to apply the drops, smack on the lippy and a good mascara and be gorgeous !! Make sure to follow us on Instagram: reykjavikfashion Happy Weekend Everybody 🙂 Pssst… there are TAX FREE days at Hagkaup until the 10th of july!!! I got these products as a gift.
