Coming to Ikea soon !!!

Coming to Ikea soon !!!

Wow I´ve been looking over at the new street style line from IKEA. I am defiantly getting the desk, the light “stick” and the shoe shelf. I might even be so bold as to take up skateboarding 🙂 I am not sure when the products hit IKEA here in Iceland but I for one am keeping my eyes peeled for when they do.   ♥ Have a nice day you guys and do not forget to follow us on Instagram: reykjavikfashion

What´s currently in my bag!!

What´s currently in my bag!!

I love to spy on what other people keep in their bag and I thought since I love to spy, you might like it too 🙂 So let´s start with the actual bag. I got sent this beautiful bag from a design company in Greece called Seoras.  I have been using this bag for a little while now and I absolutely love it.  It’s such a stylish design and I love that it’s big enough to hold all of my essentials without being too bulky. Check out their bags here. Here’s what’s currently in my bag: Collagen facial spray I wrote about this facial spray a couple of posts ago. I absolutely love it, keeps my face fresh throughout the day. Lipgloss from Makeup store This is my go-to everyday lipgloss right now. It has a pink-ish nude color so it pairs really with whatever makeup look you have!! Hand Cream This is my favorite hand cream! It moisturizes my skin so well without leaving it greasy. It also smells incredible, which is always nice! Perfume I have a lot of samples that I carry around, my newest obsession is “Because its You” by Emporio Armani. Camera I work for a fashion blog and a magazine so I never know if I come across something interesting for the mag or our social media pages.   What do you keep in your bag? Puzzy Patrol @Gamla Bíó

Puzzy Patrol @Gamla Bíó

The vibe was amazing last Saturday at Gamla Bíó. Puzzy Patrol ( an event management company ) hosted a lecture run by Laufey Ólafsdóttir about her Bachelor theisis on “Hip-Hop feminism, the marketing of culture and silencing of a loud minority”. After her presentation there was an interesting discussion from the panel that featured Erpur Eyvindarson (Blaz Roca) Anna Tara (Reykjavíkurdætur and Vigdís Howser (Fever dream).     I was looking forward to grabbing some food after the lecture and heading back to Gamla Bió to see the impressive lineup of artists that included ALVIA, Cell7, Fever Dream, Reykjavíkurdætur, Krakk & Spaghettí and Sigga Ey. The gig was absolutely amazing with Sigga Ey the newcomer, blowing me away.  Cell 7 NEVER seizes to amaze me but I have been a fan of hers since 1997. Reykavíkurdætur closed the show with incredible sass and girl power. Can´t wait to see what Puzzy Patrol is up to next. For more info on them , check out their Facebook page HERE

Norður og Niður - a melting pot of creativity !!

Norður og Niður – a melting pot of creativity !!

Happy New Year everyone.  I took a bit of a brake from blogging during the holidays but now I am back and I have a good feeling about this year. I went to Norður og Niður in Harpa last weekend. Oh boy it was such an amazing festival a melting pot of creativity oozing from all directions. Sigur Rós was organizing the festival turning Harpa into a fairy tale land. There were so many Icelandic and foreign artists that performed during the festival. Jarvis Cocker hosted a great talk, peaches as well as some of the most famous Icelandic artists performed “gloomy holidays” where popular Christmas songs were performed in minor to give it more of a “dark” effect. I saw my idol Peaches perform on the Friday and she was AWESOME. Here are some pictures from the festival. I will defiantly be attending next year if Sigur Rós decides to put it on again.     Read more about the festival here. Hope you are having a good start to the year 2018.

Do these things to get through any situation!

Do these things to get through any situation!

I consider myself to be a positive and cheerful person, most of the time anyway. Things however are never always happy go lucky all of the time. For me I try and stay focused on my tasks ahead and I was thinking about how to deal with a situation I was faced. I wrote down a few steps that I take when I feel like I am stuck, if something is not going the way I had planned or just things that I practice. Analyze: Try to take a step back from whatever situation you are in. Try to look at it from all angles and see if you can do something differently or if you need to walk away from the project all together. That can require an enormous strength in itself. Personal time: I have written about this in an earlier blogpost and I still stick to it. I set my alarm an hour before I have to leave my house for work but if not an hour then give yourself 15 minutes. It gives me time and space for myself and it is absolutely my favorite time of the day. Set goals: If I have a task that seems impossible or too big to handle, I chop them down into smaller goals and mini tasks. I write them down on a piece of paper and each time I finish a task I tick it of the list. It makes me feel like I am one step closer to the finish line. Stop Comparing: Stop comparing yourself with others. We are all so different with different set of goals , thank god. You can look up to others with qualities that you admire but remember you have your own set of qualities, potential and goals. Forgive: I am still…

Scandinavian Christmas Crush

Scandinavian Christmas Crush

December is here already and I haven´t  had any time to decorate yet.  I am not much for over doing it when it comes to decorating for Christmas and I like things to be clutter free and low key.  After waking up super early this morning and drooling over pictures on pinterest during my morning coffee, I think I found my inspiration for Christmas this year. I wanted to share the pictures with you in case you might find if useful for your Christmas decoration. Have a lovely day 🙂

Holiday Gift Guide

Holiday Gift Guide

Some people can be quite tricky when it comes to giving them presents. They either seem to buy the thing they need almost instantly or dont have any clue what they want.  I often end up giving them something generic and boring. This year I decided to do some detective work and try to find something within a wide price range and would be creative and fun to give. The jacket from 66 north has been on my wishlist since last year – actually I first saw it in red and black but I don´t think they make it in that color anymore. Makeup is always a classy gift and perfect for  a friend. I have been using the lip balm from the blue lagoon forever and there is no turning back I also carry the face mist from collagenvorur.is in my bag at all time – a product that I can highly recommend. The Becca primer and foundation is on my wishlist as well as the sunflower clock from Vitra – one can always dream. Manuka Doctor Eye Oil, Available at Deisymakeup. Blue Lagoon Scented Lava, Available at Blue Lagoon. 66 North Tindur Puffered Jacket, Available at 66North. Nikki Williams Key Ring, Available at Mai. Rifle Paper Co. Diary, Available at Petit.is. Frederik Bagger Glasses, Available at Snúran. Vitra Sunflower Clock, Available at penninn. Aurum Earrings, Available at Aurum.  Becca Back Light Priming Filter, Available at Hagkaup. Bobbi Brown Satin & Caviar Shadow & Long-Wear gel eyeliner pallette, Available at Hagkaup. Atelo Face Mist, Available at collagenvorur.is. Blue Lagoon Lip Balm, Available at Blue Lagoon.  RIVSALT, Available at rvkdesign.is.   Hope this list gives you some inspiration on what to give your loved ones. Have a lovely day 🙂

My Christmas Traditions

My Christmas Traditions

December is here and we are officially allowed to blast Christmas Songs ( although some of us have been listening for awhile now ), decorate our homes and get well into the Christmas spirit. I have made a list of some of my Christmas traditions and events that are happening around Reykjavik this December. The skating rink at Ingólfstorg , opens tomorrow. Its a great way to spend time with friends and family while falling on your ass and laughing like crazy. I always enjoy checking out Christmas markets. There is one on the 2nd of December at the Nordic House, you are bound to find something interesting there. Throughout December, Kex will be hosting a range of Christmas gigs. Free entry and is and a good way to get you into the Christmas mood. One of my favorite events is the lighting of the Christmas tree. The Oslo tree will be lit at Austurvöllur on the 3rd of December at 16.00. The red cross will be selling coffee and hot chocolate and I can promise a sparkling atmosphere. After the lighting of the tree, you can walk over to the rooftop at Petersen Svitan, and check out the Christmas market there – its open until 20.00 Each year I snuggle up on the sofa with buffet ( the dog ) and we watch Nightmare before Christmas, don´t be fooled by the title if you haven’t seen it. It is a beautiful animated fantasy film by Tim Burton. It is a must. Drink Mulled wine – here is the recipe I use: Makes about 12 servings 2 oranges 1 lemon, peel only 5 cloves, plus extra for garnish 5 cardamom pods, bruised 1 cinnamon stick A pinch of freshly grated nutmeg 2 bottles of fruity, unoaked red wine 1. Peel…
