My Christmas Traditions

My Christmas Traditions

December is here and we are officially allowed to blast Christmas Songs ( although some of us have been listening for awhile now ), decorate our homes and get well into the Christmas spirit. I have made a list of some of my Christmas traditions and events that are happening around Reykjavik this December. The skating rink at Ingólfstorg , opens tomorrow. Its a great way to spend time with friends and family while falling on your ass and laughing like crazy. I always enjoy checking out Christmas markets. There is one on the 2nd of December at the Nordic House, you are bound to find something interesting there. Throughout December, Kex will be hosting a range of Christmas gigs. Free entry and is and a good way to get you into the Christmas mood. One of my favorite events is the lighting of the Christmas tree. The Oslo tree will be lit at Austurvöllur on the 3rd of December at 16.00. The red cross will be selling coffee and hot chocolate and I can promise a sparkling atmosphere. After the lighting of the tree, you can walk over to the rooftop at Petersen Svitan, and check out the Christmas market there – its open until 20.00 Each year I snuggle up on the sofa with buffet ( the dog ) and we watch Nightmare before Christmas, don´t be fooled by the title if you haven’t seen it. It is a beautiful animated fantasy film by Tim Burton. It is a must. Drink Mulled wine – here is the recipe I use: Makes about 12 servings 2 oranges 1 lemon, peel only 5 cloves, plus extra for garnish 5 cardamom pods, bruised 1 cinnamon stick A pinch of freshly grated nutmeg 2 bottles of fruity, unoaked red wine 1. Peel…

All I want for christmas !!

All I want for christmas !!

I have been trying to refrain from listening to Christmas songs or decorating my flat too early. I recently joined a choir and for the past weeks we have been singing Christmas songs – preparing for our concert in December. Although I have been able to put of the Christmas spirit until the 1 of December – I now cant help it. I prepared a little wishlist of items that I want for Christmas. This carpet from Mundu Mig would fit beautifully in my kitchen. Crazy cool shoes from Maia. Potential Christmas outfit available at Vila. This Estee Lauder double stick foundation has been on my wishlist for a long time, I might have to treat myself to it as an early Christmas gift from me to me. You can buy it at most drugstores. Being a fan of everything Stina Goye, this coat would be fantastic to wear during the festivities – available at Geysir. Nice lingerie is a must for Christmas, this set is available at Yeoman. Everything in the Skinboss product line is all Organic and absolutely amazing. I have been so lucky to try out the products and I can 100 % recommend it to anyone. It is a great gift for your mom, dad or a friend. Available at most drugstores. Urð is an old Icelandic word meaning earth or ground. I got given this soap as a gift the other day and it smells fantastic ( without it being overwhelming ) and looks pretty cool. The soap is made from sea salt which gently exfoliates the skin and natural oils which leave the skin feeling soft and nourished. Available at URÐ. I hope you are all feeling happy and like some of us, getting into the Christmas mood. Don´t forget to follow us on instagram: reykjavikfashion…

GOLD GOLD GOLD!!

GOLD GOLD GOLD!!

I was driving in the car the other day and heard something on the radio about this new collagen product on the market. I was in a rush and I did not catch the name of the product or where to get it from. Frustrated and in a rush I got out of the car and finished my errands. A few days later I was scrolling through Facebook and low and behold my eye caught a little advert on the ride side corner. Could it be the product I had heard them talking about on the radio? I clicked on the website and I was pretty sure that I had come to the right place. I got a hold of Sigrún who invited me to visit her and learn more about the Colway collagen products. I met with her on a cold day in November and she greeted me with a huge smile and was eager to tell me all about the products. I was fascinated by Sigrún  and her story, she worked in the banking industry 23 years after being introduced to the Colway collagen products while on a vacation in Poland, she quit her job and devoted herself completely to the health industry. We talked for a while and I got to know all about the skin products. Collagen ?  Collagen makes up 75% of the skin, and is what makes the skin strong, thick, supple, and smooth, the natural production of collagen slows down more or less from the age of 25.  I didn’t notice that many wrinkles or fine lines until my early 30´s but it can be different from person to person. Collagen is a connection between blood and cells; it delivers oxygen and important nutrients to our cells keeping them alive and healthy. Natural…

My wish is Wishbone !

My wish is Wishbone !

The wishbone chair has been on my wishlist for about five years now. There never seems to be the right time to save up for one – or four 🙂 The chair has an interesting story designed by Hans J. Wegner, it has been in continuous production since 1950 and although now modern technology is able to speed up the process of making a chair, back then it was all done by hand and it took approximately three weeks to produce one single chair. Originally the chair didnt come in any colors but today you can choose from more than 150 unique combinations. I however am pretty old school in that I think I would want to stick to the original version. Here are some photos to inspire you and you might spot a chair in a color that perfectly suits your decor.     Have a lovely day lovelies and dont forget to follow us on instagram: @reykjavikfashion
