What I’m Craving Now: July
1. JÖR by Guðmundur Jörundsson Edie Swimsuit
Summer means pool time and pool time means swimsuits. Jör is always a great brand, but this swimsuit is particularly spectacular. The neckline is a little burlesque but the modest cut and shaping of the suit keep it modern and classy. You can bet I’d be spending more time out of the water if I had this piece. I’d want to show it off!
23.990 ISK, buy it at Jör.
2. Reykjavík Raincoats Old Fashioned Yellow Raincoat
Reykjavík weather is notoriously unpredictable, but if I had this raincoat, I’d be begging for rain. Yellow is a bright colour—and I’m normally a black and white kinda girl—but with an anorak this classic, I think it’s the best choice. I’ve seen a few Reykjavík Raincoats in person and their quality is impeccable. These things seem like they would last forever—definitely an investment piece.
34.900 ISK, buy it here.
3. Nicce London Striped Shirt and Crop Top Set
This summer, I’m obsessed with matching sets. I recently bought some from Escapology, Adidas, and American Apparel, but after seeing this Nicce number, I might have to add another to my collection. I’d pair it—as the model does—with Nike Air Force High Tops, black tights, matte peach lipstick, and Laguna Beach-esque wavy hair.
4. Ticket to LungA Art Festival
If you have to pick one festival to go to this summer, I’d highly recommend LungA. I didn’t go last year but everyone I knew who went had an amazing time. It’s held in Seyðisfjörður and with workshops, exhibitions, and concerts, you definitely won’t be bored. My #1 pick for this years iteration? Don’t you dare miss Milkywhale.
Tickets are 5.900 ISK, buy them here
5. Aurora Necklace from Lena Lyngdal
Lena Lyngdal is a small Etsy shop run out of Borganes. Her pieces are made of Shibori silk, jewels, and beads and they are absolute show-stoppers. I particularly love the colour scheme on this ‘Aurora’ necklace; it’s ornate, beautiful— a wearable masterpiece. I’d pair this with a loose white button-down, jeans, and nude heels.
47.000 ISK, buy it here.
6. Tattoo by Dagur of Bleksmiðjan Húðflúr
Right now, I’m absolutely dreaming of getting an old-school traditional tattoo, and there’s no one better in Reykjavík for that than Dagur of Bleksmiðjan Húðflúr. Sparrow? Anchor? Rose? I’m still deciding, but I’ll keep you updated.
7. A Lob
I know, I know! Everyone is getting one, but can you blame them? Lobs (long bobs) just look so chic. I have waist length hair, but I’ve been dyeing it for so long that it’s pretty damaged. A lob might be all I need to revitalize my look. Know any good salons?
